How to Give Your Family Access to Google One Storage

For all those memories, set up storage sharing.

ESSENTIAL NOTES

It's common to run out of Google's 15GB free storage limit. An additional Gmail, Drive, and Photo storage is provided by a Google One membership, which provides an answer.

Google One provides a range of storage plans, from 100GB to 30TB, at varying price points to accommodate different budgets and storage needs.

You must first create a family group and then activate the sharing feature via the Google Account page or the Google One app if you want to share Google One storage with your family. When each family member's personal storage is full, they can then access the shared storage.

With all of the services Google provides, it is not uncommon to exceed the free 15GB storage limit. This can be resolved by purchasing a Google One membership, which comes with 100GB of basic storage. Thankfully, you can share this storage with your family, but it takes some getting used to. You can share Google One storage with your family by following this guide.

Describe Google One.

Google One is a subscription service that offers more cloud storage for Google Drive, Google Photos, and Gmail. It also provides advantages like family sharing, access to Google experts for assistance, and fun features like Magic Eraser and Dark Web monitoring.

The service offers various storage plans to accommodate varying budgets and storage needs, and it adheres to the monthly and annual subscription models:

In the event that these plans are insufficient for your storage requirements, you can choose to pay an additional $25 to $150 a month for a larger storage limit of 5TB to 30TB.

Members who live in the same nation as you and have their own Google accounts are the only ones with whom you can share storage

First, form a family group.

Create a family group first in order to share your Google One storage. In case you have already made one, this step can be omitted.

Click "Get Started" after visiting the Google Families page (you can use a desktop, laptop, phone, or tablet to access the link).

Select "Create a family group" from the menu. Group members are overseen by a family manager, who also looks after the shared Google services and apps.

Verify your position as the family manager

Add as many as five family members by typing the email addresses or names of those people. You can add children under the age of 13 using Google Family Link. For the time being, you are free to omit this step.

And voilà! Your family has been formed. Your family members will receive an email inviting them to join your family group if you followed the previous step. You'll receive an email notification as soon as they join.

Tell them the invite expires in two weeks.

You can add your family members if you didn't complete the third step by going to the same Google Families page, selecting "Get Started," then "Send invitations," and finally entering their email addresses.

Share Your Google One Storage in Step Two.

Let's configure your Google One shared storage now that your family group is operational.

via the internet

Click the "Go to Google Account" button after viewing your Google Account page.

Select "Go to Google One" from the menu.

On the upper right corner, click the settings icon.

Toggle the "Share Google One with family" button to the "on" position by clicking the "Manage Family Settings" drop-down menu.

from the mobile version of Google One

To begin sharing your storage, open the Google One app on your phone or Android device and follow these steps:

When the Google One app is open, swipe left to access the sidebar.

Then select "Settings."

Select "Manage family settings" underneath "Backup and sharing."

Turn the button labeled "Share Google One with your family" on.

How to Give Up Storage Sharing

If you need to stop giving your family access to your Google One storage, take these actions:

Give Up Sharing Your Storage on the Web

Click the "Go to Google Account" button after viewing your Google Account page.

Select "Go to Google One" from the menu.

On the upper right corner, click the settings icon.

Turn off the "Share Google One with family" button by selecting it from the "Manage Family Settings" drop-down menu.

The shared Google One storage will now be accessible to your family members. They will automatically begin using up the extra shared storage after they have consumed their allotted 15GB of free storage. This does not imply that they will have access to your data and files unless you give them permission to do so.

You can prevent your storage from being shared if you have the Google One app on Android or iOS by doing the following:

When the Google One app is open, swipe left to access the sidebar.

Then select "Settings."

Select "Manage family settings" underneath "Backup and sharing."

Turn the option to "Share Google One with your family" off.

Your family won't be able to access the extra storage if you stop sharing your storage with them. Their current files will be secure even if they have exhausted all of their personal storage. Nevertheless, Google provides a helpful explanation of what it means that they won't be able to store anything new.
