Although the HiRise 3 Deluxe is more expensive than other 3-in-1 MagSafe chargers, it is worth it because of its many great features.

Following the release of Twelve South's HiRise 3 Deluxe, the argument over the greatest MagSafe iPhone stand continues. This multi-device dock's small size, movable phone holder, and multi-angle quick Apple Watch charger allow it to blend in with the conversation. It not only powered my devices as promised, but it also looked fantastic while doing so. All you have to do is determine whether the $149.99 price is worthwhile.

Actually, the HiRise 3 Deluxe Has Vegan Leather Covering

Although the base and MagSafe charger of the charging station appear to be made of hard plastic, they are actually covered in soft vegan leather. It's an aluminum pole. I believe that when I took it out of the packaging, I actually let out a "ooh." The HiRise 3 Deluxe may appear unremarkable in photos, but up close, it left a lasting impression. I wasn't prepared for how opulent it looked on my nightstandThe Nomad Base One Max 3-in-1 is made of glass and metal, so it has weight, but Twelve South's design philosophy also aims for a premium product with the materials it uses, using vegan leather and aluminum. Although I wish this charger had a little more weight, its rubber feet have prevented it from

moving on any tabletop so far. .The HiRise 3 Deluxe is a narrow iPhone charger in a world of wide ones. To minimize its footprint, the dock moves its charging spots forward and backward. According to Twelve South, the base is smaller than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Although this orientation is less common, it might be useful for people using it on a desk or small nightstand. Personally, I haven't felt tooconstrained by dock sizes.

Thanks to iOS 17's new StandBy mode, the HiRise 3 Deluxe, with its tall MagSafe iPhone holder, arrives at the perfect moment. An iPhone running the most recent OS enters large widget mode when it is connected and flipped sideways. It is ideal for displaying background data.

Although I don't need one for my desk, I do need one for overnight charging of my Apple Watch. I found the tilting MagSafe charger held elegantly by a thin aluminum pole. The ability to tilt the phone helped to ensure that it was viewed at the ideal angle. As seen in the top image, this stand gave my iPhone 15 Pro the appearance of a real bedside clock.

The Details Make All the Difference.

• In case you haven't noticed, a lot of charging stations are designed to power up more than just iPhones. There are just so many options available in every style at every price range. While I haven't tried every product on this list, I have given many of them a try over the years. With the HiRise 3 Deluxe, Twelve South has made some excellent decisions on the smallest of details, which those who are paying attention will notice.

• The back of the stand has a 7.5W wireless charging spot instead of a 5W Qi charger for AirPods, which is the maximum speed for iPhones without MagSafe wireless charging. This increases the usefulness of using the spot to charge another phone or anything else that is Qi-enabled.

• There is an up/down tilt to the Apple Watch charger. This should eliminate the need for your band to be disconnected in order to charge, which could be an issue for those who wear Sport Loop bands and chargers that are flat-laying.For various viewing angles, the MagSafe charger tilts. In a variety of situations, slightly inclining the phone up or down can greatly improve your view of the clock when it is in StandBy mode.

In addition to these features, all iPhone models have the ability to magnetically attach without contacting a watch beneath them. Sometimes those arrangements aren't fully considered, but in this case they appear to have been, especially when you have a phone that can swivel from landscape to portrait and a watch charger underneath it that can be vertical.

Even with a case, the raised camera bump on Twelve South's HiRise 3 prevented the phone from sitting flush on the magnetic charger last year. That little detail on that product didn't sit well with me. On the HiRise 3 Deluxe, none of those errors have been discovered.In fact, there's just not much to quibble about with this product beyond cost. There's an international power adapter in the box that has a fixed length of 59 inches. I didn't find the cable situation limiting. It might have been nice for a UBS-C connection to the dock, but I also liked that everything I needed to get it powered was there and ready to go.

Should You Buy the Twelve South HiRise 3 Deluxe?

The Twelve South HiRise 3 Deluxe shouldn't cost almost $150 in a perfect world. But our world is not perfect, and it does. Beyond that, though, it's been an excellent nightstand charging option when compared to unknown brands on Amazon. Its additional 7.5W wireless charging spot and narrow base make it a great option for a desk as well, in my opinion.

However, official MagSafe chargers that support multiple Apple devices and typically cost less than $100 are becoming increasingly rare. This is one of the best-considered options available right now if you're ready to make the commitment. Although adding white as a color option would be nice, that might just be getting greedy.
