There's an OLED screen on the new steam deck.
In addition to
creating a whole industry of rivals like the ASUS ROG Ally, the Steam Deck
greatly simplified the process of carrying PC games with you on the go. The
original Steam Deck is still in demand despite the abundance of alternatives,
especially considering its (relatively) low cost. The Steam Deck is currently
receiving an update that includes an OLED screen along with many other
enhancements.
As an update to the original Steam Deck, Valve has unveiled the new Steam Deck OLED, and it's really impressive. Let us begin with the primary enhancement, which is the screen. As the name suggests, the Steam Deck OLED features an OLED screen, which results in significantly deeper blacks and more vibrant colors overall. Although the size is slightly larger at 7.4 inches rather than 7 inches, the resolution remains the same. Furthermore, the screen refreshes at a rate of 90 Hz. All of this means that the 90Hz refresh rate will make your games look more vibrant and flow more naturally.
However, even though this is a rather understated update—by no means a Steam Deck 2—there are still some noteworthy internal hardware enhancements. For instance, the custom Zen 2 chip that the original Steam Deck had has been upgraded to a more efficient version (7nm to 6nm), so theoretically, battery life should be significantly better even though performance should remain unchanged. Moreover, Wi-Fi 6E is supported, faster RAM, and up to 1TB of storage are included. Basically, this is just an attempt to improve upon the shortcomings of the original Steam Deck and make it as good as it can be. Although the exact release date of Valve's second-generation Steam Deck is unknown, in the interim, this isFantastic update with a substantial screen upgrade and some much-needed efficiency.
